OutRide is a hardware and software system developed to turn your iPhone into the ultimate action sports camera. The OutRide case is a waterproof, ultra-rugged housing with a wide-angle lens to capture your latest session. The OUTRIDE app is the free online community that allows you to share your rides instantly with the world. Together, you ride, record, and share.
For upload videos to youtube requires the user to have a YouTube channel, if you do not have one, please create one here:
otherwise, please try again in a later time.
Open the OUTRIDE app or Apple’s Camera app before placing your phone in the case. OutRide is equipped with an Action button to start and stop recording. The button functions with the OUTRIDE app, Apple’s native Camera app, or any third party app that correctly interfaces with the Apple Camera app.
The case has been tested to 5 meters, or about 16 feet, when the WaterSports Back is installed. It’s designed for surfing, kayaking, and other sports where the primary video action is above water. It will record underwater, but is limited to the amount of available light.
OutRide is designed to be as water-tight as possible, so anywhere water could get in has been limited. As ports and button are the most vulnerable, we developed a single button to start and stop recording.
When the app is open, click the Camera icon at the bottom of the screen. Click the thumbnail on the left to view your Cameral roll. Select a photo or video, trim down to the content you’d like (for videos), and click “Upload” in the top right corner. From there you can add a title, description, tags, category, etc.
You can also upload content at outride.com. While logged-in, click the Upload icon at the top of your Profile page. After entering video or photo information, you will be prompted to select your file on the next page.
All videos uploaded to OUTRIDE are hosted on YouTube. The following formats are the most widely used and supported options:
• WebM files - Vp8 video codec and Vorbis Audio codecs
• .MPEG4, 3GPP, MOV files - Typically supporting h264, mpeg4 video codecs, and AAC audio codec
• .AVI - Many cameras output this format - typically the video codec is MJPEG and audio is PCM
• .MPEGPS - Typically supporting MPEG2 video codec and MP2 audio
• .FLV - Adobe-FLV1 video codec, MP3 audio
Uploading through the OUTRIDE app limits videos to 10 minutes and uploading through outride.com limits to 15 minutes. If you are filming through the app, shooting length is limited to 10 minutes. This setting can be turned off in Profile > Settings > Footage settings.
To find users, click the Friends icon on the bottom of the app. After clicking “ Find Friends” on the top left, you can search for users in your Contacts. This page will also show you the latest videos from the users you follow.
